What is a fabric weave?
A fabric weave refers to the way threads are interlaced in a fabric; most common pattern is a criss - cross pattern at a right angle to each other. There are some other interesting patterns such as Twill, percale & satin that we are going to discuss further.
Twill Weave
Twill weave is a kind of weave that recurrence on three or more ends and picks and produces diagonal line on the of fabric.
Twill weave is one of basic weaves from the production point of view, its appearance of design can be seen from the both sides.
Satin Weave
A satin weave produces a lustrous, glossy and smooth fabric. Satin explains how the threads are mixed, and yard used can be polyester or silk. It requires minimum five shafts to weave, to form its structure the weft yarns are predominant on the face of fabric and made of filament shiny yarns with very low twist to produce a lustrous finish.
Plain Weave
Plain weave is the simplest weave. It is inexpensive because of low manufacturing cost, more durable, its flat and tight surface makes it one of the most popular weave types. To make this, every filling yarn moves interchangeably under and over every weft yarn. It is strong & hard wearing and used for furnishing fabric.
Basket Weave
Basket Weave also known as Panama Weave, it is a subordinate type of Plain weave with two or more weft and warp yarns alternate to look like a checkerboard effect. The fabric made of Basket weave is breathable because knits of basket weave is loose. Also, it looks different from Plain weave as it tips a burst of colors that can help you in relieving stress by lighten up your mood.
Jacquard Weave
This is a gorgeous weave with intricate and colorful designs woven into the fabric. This weave is used to be produced on a jacquard loom.
The weave results in a fabric that is extremely strong and lustrous also provides a sophisticated appearance and smooth feel on touch. Jacquards can be made one color or as mix of color. It can make simple as well as complex patterns.
